Royal Ascot starts tomorrow!

The most eagerly-awaited flat meeting of the year starts tomorrow with some fantastic racing - which also means that today´s 5 cards are all very low key with no races better than class 4.

The best race at Carlisle this afternoon is the handicap for 3yo fillies over 7 furlongs at 16.45 CET.This Looks wide open, but the two we like are the consistent Bright Flash (David Brown/ Hector Crouch), who won over this CD last year and has finished fourth on all her other starts, and Three Gracez (Charlie McBride/ Graham Lee) who has won 3 times and been placed 4 tumes already and still looks fairly handicapped. We just prefer tje former., who could have more scope for improvement. We also llike Night Generatiopn (Sir Mark Prescpott/ Luke Morris) in the concluding 3yo handicap at 18.15. This full brother to German Champion Night Magic has been given a typical Prescott preparation and is now moving up in distance - as his pedigree demands- off a very low rating.

A fillies handicap, this time over 6 furlongs, is also the main event this evening at Nottingham at 20.10. Even with only 6 runners this looks tricky, but we shall take a chance on top-weight Capelita (Clive Brittain/ Harry Bentley), who has been running in better company and whose veteran trainer, after a slow start to the season, is now coming into form.
The most interesting runner at Windsor this evening is Godolphin´s well-bred Think Ahead in the 10 furlongs maiden at 21.30; he was placed in both his races two, but has now been off the track for 19 months. If he has any of his old ability left, he should beat this modest opposition without much trouble.

We also have N.H. racing this afternoon at Southwell and Irish flat racing tjhis evening from Sligo. At the latter fixture, Rock Critic (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) should win the rated stakes at 20.00 ; this lightly-raced 10yo is mainly used as a lead horse and pacemaker for the stable stars, but is probably good enough to win a race of this sort on his own account.
