Royal Ascot: Coronation Stakes

Main feature at Royal Ascot today is the Coronation Stakes for 3yo fillies over a mile at 17.20 CET and the fillies classic form from 3 different countries will be tested here. The Aga Khan´s Ervedya (Jean-Claude Rouget/ Christophe Soumillon) won the French 1,000 Guineas from Irish Rookie (Martyn Meade/ Fergus Sweeney), while Lucida (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) was runner-up at Newmarket and Found (Aidan O´Brien/ Ryan Moore) also runner-up at the Curragh. It is difficult to compare these performances,but our instinct tells us that the Newmarket form is the strongest. L;ucida went for home too early there, and the winner Legatissimo certainly did tjhe form no harm when narrowly beaten in the Oaks, so we go for Godolphin´s Bolger filly. Obviously Found, who was also a smart 2yo, is a big danger, especially in view of the fantastic form this week of the O´Brien/ Moore runners, while the French will no doubt fancy their chances as well.
