Newbury and Ffos Las

there has been quite a bit of overnight rain and the going will be much softer than indicated. This is particularly true of Ffos Las, where the going will be heavy and there will no doubt be non-runners with the fields even smaller than expected. Rebecca Curtis is the top trainer here and when she fetches Paul Townend over from Ireland to ride, then she means business and the combination could have several winners.They could well take the first 3 races with Veripek at 15.10 CET, Golden Milan at 15.40 and Red Devil Lads at 16.15, while Minella On Line at 16.50 would be very dangerous if recovering his form over hurdles after some abortive efforts over fences. However the interesting one in that race is Flintham (Mark Bradstock/ Sean Bowen), a half-brother to Carruthers and Coneygree; those were the last 2 runners for the Bradstock stable and we all know what they did. He is not particularly well handicapped here, but obviously has bags of potential, and although the Bradstocks must do without their favourite jockey, he must be the selection here.

That jockey is of course Nico de Boinville, who must do duty at Newbury to replace the injured Barry Geraghty. He could win the opening race on Might Bite for Nicky Henderson at 15.30, but in the next race at 16.05 we prefer the stable´s other runner Tistory (Andrew Tinkler); in both cases the Nicholls/ Twiston-Davies runners are the main dangers. Two recent winners that can follow up under a penalty are Kadalkin (Nigel Hawke/ Tom Scudamore) at 16.40 and Red Admirable (Graham McPherson/ Charlie Poste) at 17.45. Best bet here in our opinion is Remiluc (Chris Gordon/ Tom Cannon) in the novice hurdle at 17.10; he had no chance last time in a very hot race, but should be hard to beat in this company.
