Fontwell off- still 4 meetings today

Even with Fontwell abandoned because of a waterlogged track (and the same tomorrow at Wincanton), we still have 4 meetings today - over jumps at Catterick and Downpatrick (N. Ireland) and on the all-weather at Lingfield this afternoon and Kempton this evening.

There are small fields at Catterick, but they are still very tricky races. The ground is beginning to dry out a little here, which should suit Silver Shuffle (Dianne Sayer/ Colm McCormack), who is out of a Lando mare; he has won once in 53 starts, but this opposition is so feeble that he can double up here. Another runner with a German pedigree is Pindar (JE Foster/ Dougie Costello), who has bottom weight in the handicap chase at 17.10. This Tertullian gelding is extremely inconsistent, but certainly capable of winning off this modest rating if in the right mood. Best bet here could be Molasses (Harry Whittington/ Gavin Sheehan) in the mares novice hurdle at 16.10; she was quite impressive when winning at Plumpton a month ago, and the runner-up has since come out again and won easily. German-bred Dark Sunshine (Arthur Moore/ David Casey) could run well in a similar event at 15.50 at Downpatrick at 15.50. The daughter of Kallisto shaped quite well on her debut and should be capable of winning a small race.

Quite a few of the flat jockeys will be riding at both Lingfield and Kempton, but not Ryan Moore, who has just 3 rides in the afternoon. His best chance is with Godolphin´s Four Seasons in the 3yo handicap at 17.30.
