Bangor and Sedgefield

A typical Tuesday with low level jumps racing from Bangor and Sedgefield, and even lower flat racing from the all-weather at Southwell. However it is interesting that, despite the poor prize-money on offer, both jumps meetings have attracted runners from all over, including from Ireland.

At Bangor it is Tony Martin, who saddles Delvin Road in the maiden hurdle at 14.40 and Heathfield in the handicap hurdle at 15.40, both with Denis O´Regan aboard. Both should go well, although the former faces a very strong opponent in Relic Rock (Brian Ellison/ AP McCoy), runner-up in both his races over sticks so far and certain to win before long. From the German point of view, we also like Quintano (Heather Dalton/ Finian O´Toole) in this race, as he has an excellent Fährhof pedigree and could run into a place at a huge price. Best race here is the handicap chase at 16.10; this looks very open, but our choice is Final Assault (Lucinda Russell/ Dean Fox).

Co. Antrim trainer Stuart Crawford sends 3 runners to Sedgefield, and all will be ridden by Andrew Lynch: Knocklayde Sno Cat at 14.30, Izzini an hour later and Legacy Phoenix in the bumper another hour on. We expect all 3 to be involved in the finish, and are especially interested in Izzini, who is inconsistent but loves this track and is 3 from 3 here.
