Farewell to the flat for 2014

The 2014 flat season in the U.K. officially ends today with the November handicap at Doncaster at 6.35 CET the big betting race of the day. 8 extremely competitive races are on the card, with 23 runners in the main event and bookies going 10-1 the field. We prefer the former, who has nt run since Royal Ascot, where he could not handle the fast ground, but he should find tions to his liking here. Open Eagle (David O´Meara/ Danny Tudhope), who has a 45 lbs penalty for an easy win at Redcar on Tuesday is just one of many dangers.

There are also two listed races on the card and the 6 furlongs race at 15.25 has attracted some smart sprinters, including Tropics (Dean Ivory/ Robert Winston) and Jack Dexter (Jim Goldie/ Graham Lee), second and third in the big Ascot sprint last month. Jack Dexter has an excellent CD record, won this race last year, is slightly better off this time, is a real autumn specialist and we give him our vote.

The listed race for fillies over 10 furlongs at 16.00 can go to Princess Loulou (Roger Varian/ Andrea Atzeni); she could only finish fourth here last year, but is much improved this season and her second place in a Deauville Group One in August is easily the best form in the race. Lady Tiana (Lucy Wadham/ Lee) as another improver and won easily enough last time in a lower grade; she could be the main danger.

Another previous winner who can score again is Levitate (John Quinn/ Martin Harley) in the 7 furlongs handicap at 14.50; he has not won since, but is now well handicapped as a result and seems to be coming back to form. Roachdale House could be the best of the 3 Richard Fahey runners and is the danger.
