there has been a lot of rain on Newmarket and the going is now soft. This means that there will certainly be quite a few non-runners, we have already taken those that are known into consideration, but more non-runners are very likely. The ch The main event is the Group One Falmouth Stakes over the straight mile for fillies amd mares at 15.40 CET. All 7 runners were last seen at Royal Ascot: Integral (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) won the Windsor Forest (Group Two), with Purr Along (Johnny Murtagh/ Jamie Spencer) third, Sky Lantern (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) 5th, Peace Burg (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien) seventh and Certify (Charlie Appleby/ William Buick) well back. Both the 3yo´s ran in the Group One Coronation Stakes, won in good style by Rizeena (Clive Brittain/ Olivier Peslier), with Kiyoshi (Charlie Hills/ Harry Bentley) tenth. Sky Lantern was a very unlucky runner-up in this race last year (Purr Along fourth) and is expected to improve considerably for the Ascot run, but the ground is not in her favour. We are also a bit dubious about Rizeena, who hads never really shone here. We would not be at all surprised to see Kiyoshi (who is by Dubawi) reverse the form this time. However we think that Integral is the most likely winner.
Another interesting pedigree is that of Astronereus (Amanda Perrett/ Hughes) in the 3yo maiden over 10 furlongs at 17.25; he is a half-brother by Sea The Stars to French Derby winner (and now leading sire) Le Havre; he kept on well when second at Goodwood last time and could be a decent each-way bet here.
