Glorious Goodwood: third day

Glorious Goodwood continues with another strong card and once again we are hoping for a German victory. Amarillo was a bit of a disappointment on Tuesday, but we are hoping for better luck with the same owner´s, trainer´s and jockeys´s Nymphea (Peter Schiergen/ Adrie de Vries) in the Group Three Lily Langtry Stakes for fillies and mares over 1 3/4 miles at 16.45 CET. Nymphea is trying this trip for the first time, but we expect no problems in this respect. It is however a very strong field for a Group Three, headed by the tough Irish mare Missunited (Michael Winters/ Jim Crowley), a close third in the Gold Cup at Ascot last time, and Talent (Ralph Beckett/ Richard Hughes), who won the Oaks and was runner-up in the St. Leger last year. However if Nymphea is in the same mood as at Hoppegarten last year and gets an easy lead, she will take all the catching. Another familiar face here is Baroness Daniela (Henri-Alex Pantall/ James Doyle), who won at Hamburg last time.
Main event today is the Group Two Goodwood Cup over 2 miles at 16.10. Brown Panther (Tom Dascombe/ Richard KIngscote) won this last year from Ahzeemah (Saeed bin Suroor/ Harry Bentley) with Cavalryman (bin Suroor/ Kieren Fallon) only sixth, but the last-named is in good form this season and could come out best of these on the prevailing fast ground. However the one to beat is surely the Queen´s filly Estimate (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore), winner of the Gold Cup last year and a close second this time (altho´´lilkely to be disqualified because of the poppy seeds in her diet!). Although she is a daughter of Monsun, she seems to go best on fast ground.
The Richmond Stakes for 2yo´s over 6 furlongs at 15.35 is another Group Two. Surprisingly Richard Hannon, whose father always did so well at this meeting, has not yet won a race here this week, but he can take this with Ivawood (Richard Hughes) who looks one of the best juveniles seen out this season. Moonraker (Mick Channon/ Ryan Moore), winner at Ascot in May on his only start, looks the main danger. The Hannon/ Hughes team can also take the 2yo maiden at 17.20 with Shagar; Thunder inmy Heart (Michael Bell/ Jamie Spencer), also a runner-up in a strong Newmarket maiden last time, is an obvious threat.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Roseburg - Arable - Astronereus
2. Race: Jungle Cat - Moonraker - Fox Trotter
3. Race: Estimate - Brown Panther - Cavalryman
4. Race: Missunited - Talent - Waila

5. Race: Thunder In Myheart - Shagah - Hoorayforhollywood
6. Race: Championship - Royal Seal - Nakuti
7. Race: George Cinq - Corton Lad - Las Verglas Star
