Lingfield and Haydock

the best races of the day are the classic trials at Lingfield, though they are no longer as significant as was the case a few years ago. However Aidan O´Brien, who won two Derby Trials at Chester this week, sends two ovetr for the Group Three Derby Trial at 15.55 CET. Son Joseph partners Mekong River, who has the highest rating in the field but is also the most exposed, and possibly the once-raced Blue Hussar (Ryan Moore) can improve past him. Sudden Wonder (Chatlie Appleby/ Mikael Barzalona) won a valuable sales race at Newmarket last time and looks a big danger, while Munjaz (John Gosden/ Paul Hanagan) also won at that track and should come on a lot for that.
The Oaks Trial at 15.20 also looks quite open, and Ralph Beckett, who has a good record here, saddles three fillies. His main jockey Jim Crowley is on Moonrise Landing, one of 3 unbeaten fillies, and she could be the one. The Queen´s Queen´s Prize( Sir Michael Stoute/ Moore), also unbeaten, looks a big threat and so is Casusal Smile (Andrew Balding/ David Probert), whose dam actually won the Oaks.
Of great German interest is the Group Three Chartwell Fillies Stakes at 17.00, in which Peter Schiergen saddles Emerald Star (Daniele Porcu). She ran a good race when third at Cologne to Meerjungfrau and this distance of 7 furlongs is probably ideal. In our opinion she has a decent each-way chance, with the French raider Dalayna (Alain de Royer-Dupre/ Christophe Soumillon) probably the one to beat.
There is plenty more good racing today and Haydock stages an excellent mixed meeting with two hot handicap hurdles. Our hopes here are Broadway Buffalo (David Pipe/ Tom Scudamore) and Cross Kennon (Jennie Candlish/ Sean Quinlan) in the 3-miler at 14.50, and last year´s winner Barizan (Donald McCain/ Tony McCoy) and lightly-weighted Titus Bolt (Jim Goldie/ Dale Irving) in the Swinton Hurdle at 16.30. Both these races are part of today´s Scoop 6 and anybody who gets all 6 winners is likely to become an instant millionaire- but it looks very tough indeed.
