6 meetings today

Plenty of racing again today, but all at a low level. It continues to rain in many parts of Britain and Ireland and the going will certainly be on the soft side almost everywhere. Amazingly, 4 of the 5 U.,K. meetings today are over jumps, which seems absolutely ridiculous. Not surprisingly there are some very small fields, and races which offer normal each-way betting are few and far between.

The sole flat card is at Beverley, where the mile handicap at 17.00. Top-weight Toto Kyllachy (David O´Meara/ Danny Tudhope) is a sztanding dish at Beverlrey and won this race last year. He is still well handicapped, but the rain is not in his favour and so we prefer Ted´s Brother (Richard Guest/ Conor Beasley), who is penalised 6 lbs for an easy win on soft ground last week and can score again. Well-bred Busatto (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning) is tried at a new trip after failing to shine over longer distances and could well be a big danger.

Our old friend Moon Over Miami (Mr. D.Holmes) is now 13 and clearly not as good as he used to be; however he won the hunters chase at Southwell at 19.00 ´last year and could well run well again; as a son of Dashing Blade, he would not the ground to be too soft, but Southwell seems to have missed much of the rain.

Another German-bred we like today is Arctic Fire (Willie Mullins/ Pat Smullen), who runs in a flat race at 21.25 at Killarney´s mixed meeting. He has only ever run once on the flat, in the French provinces two years ago, but has been in excellent form over hurdles and can win here, with Exotic (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien) the obvious danger.
