small fields today

there are some very small fields today, in fact only 2 of the 28 races to be run in the U.K. have more than 8 runners. We don´t like betting on races with less than 6 runners, so advise punters to be keep their stakes low, as a false run race often produces the wrong result. We do however like betting on veterans, and are quite keen on the chances of Victory Gunner (Richard Lee/ Michael Nolan) in the 3 mile handicap chase at 16.30 CET at Ffos Las.´At 16, he is one of the oldest horses in training, but he is now nicely handicapped, usually runs well at this track and is well suited by the soft ground. We also like Tom Bach (Hywel Evans/ James Best) here at 15.55 and Santo Thomas (Venetia Williams/ Aidan Coleman) at 17.00; the former has no penalty for a very easy win over CD 11 days ago and can go in again, while the latter ran below form last time but is now very well handicapped on his earlier efforts.
There are 3 all-weathjer Meetings today and Mark Johnston had runners at all 3, so it is interesting that he has sent his main jockey Joe Fanning to Wolverhampton, where her can take the 6 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 17.20 with Outbacker. German-bred Goldmädchen (James Given/ Graham Lee) cam complete a CD hat-trick here at 15.10; she has not been unduly punished for her 2 wins and the opposition does not look strong.
At Southwell we like Shawkatango (Derek Shaw/ Jacob Butterfield) in the 5 furlongs handicap at 16.05; he has won 6 times over this CD and with this claimer aboard is still on a nice weight.
The best race at Kempton this evening is the 3yo mile handicap at 20.35, where 3 of the 7 runners are still unbeaten. Tree of Grace (Richard Hannon/ Frankie Dettori) made a positive Impression when winning his only race, at Lingfield in October; he is Frankie´s only ride of the day and can make his trip worthwhile.
There are big fields at the Irisjh N.H.meetimng at Cork, but lonly 6 run in the bdest race, a 2 1/2 mile hurdle at 16.20. Willie ;Mullins saddles two of them, Tarla (Paul Townend) and Upsie (David Casey), who as mares get 7 lbs from the likely favourite Rebel Fitz (Mervyn Winters/ Barry Geraghty). The last-named is coming off a break of 5 months and is reverting to hurdles after a successful stint chasing, but if he is anywhere near his best form, he should win this.
