good all-weather stayers at Kempton

easily the most valuable race at today´s 3 U.K. Meetings is the 2 mile conditions race at 18.00 CET at Kempton and it is also by far the most interesting. It is the last of the qualifying races for the big Good Friday meeting at Lingfield and quite a few of the runners will be hoping to book their place there. German-bred Ordernsritter (Chris Down/ John Fahy) has won his last 2 races over this CD, but has a mountain to climb on ratings and we shall be pleasantly surprised if he makes the frame. Top-rated, but only just, is Thecornishcockney (John Ryan/ Adam Kirby), well beaten twice at Meydan earlier in the year, but he had some good all-weather form earlier and won twice over this CD at the beginning of last year. This trainer and jockey combination took Saturday´s big handicap at Doncaster with another horse who had flopped at Meydan, so this one clearly comes on the short list. So does Castilo del Diablo (David Simcock/ Jamie Spencer), although sztrictly speaking he is held on form by Noble Silk (Lucy Wadham/ David Probert). Clowance Estate, Sir Graham Wade and Glenard all had good form last year, but they are all coming off a break and are totally inexperienced on the all-weather. There are plenty of possibilities here, but in view of John Ryan´s excellent early season form, we shall stick with Thecornishcockney. Ryan Moore, who partners Glenard for Charlie Hills, probably has better prospects with Jeremy Noseda´s Dutiful Son half an hour earlier; This lightly-raced sort has now won twice over this CD and is probably still ahead of the handicapper, despite being raised 16 lbs for those successes.
The 2 jumps meetings are less exciting. At Hexham, where fog could be a problem, we think that German-bred Amore Mio (Lucinda Russell/ Peter Buchanan) could be a solid each-way chance in the 3 mile handicap hurdle at 17.10. He has not really lived up to his early promise - he won 3 races in Germany back in 2008- and is only 2 from 29 since his arrival in the U.K.. However he is consistent enough in this grade, his trainer and jockey have a good record at this track and the opposition looks very exposed. AP McCoy is here with 3 mounts for Donald McCain and could well win on all three - Volcanic at 15.10, Tonvadosa at 15.40 and Never Never in the conclusing bumper.
Our each-way fancy at Plumptpn is Mr. Muddle (Sheena West/ Mark Goldstein), who has top weight in the handicap hurdle at 16.20; his recent form is not great, but he has an excellent course record.
