4 meetings today

There is N.H. racing this afternoon at Warwick and Haydock, while they race on the all-weather this afternoon at Lingfield and this evening at Kempton, but there is very little to get excited about at any of these meetings. Top trainer Nicky Henderson has a good record at both N.H. tracks, and while Cheltenham did not go entirely to plan, he remains in good form and it could be significant that he sends just one runner to each meeting today:

Karazhan (David Bass) runs in the handicap hurdle at 16.40 CET at Haydock and Polly Peachum (Nico de Bloinville) in the mares hurdle 50 minutes later at Warwick. Both are coming off a 3 months break, but that is no problem with this trainer, but they both showed form last season which would entitle them to run well here, and Henderson could will land a quick across-the-card double. Another ´trainer with runners at both meetings is Philip Hobbs, who has several decent chances. His main jockey Richard Johnson is at Warwick and his best chance in our view is Roll The Dice at 18.00. The most interesting race could be the 2 1/2 mile handicap chase at 17.15 at Haydock; big local owner Trevor Hemmings has 2 runners here, Tiptoeaway (Tim Easterby/ Brian Harding) and Gansey (Sue Smith/ Ryan Mania). We expect both to run well, with slight preference for the latter.

Almost all the races at on the two all-weather cards are low-level handicaps and probably best given a miss. For those looking for a complete longshot, we suggest Pabusar (Ann Stokell/ William Carson) at 17.05 at Lingfield; this 6yo has only ever won once, and that was at two, but he has come down a huge amount in the weights and in younger days was running in much better company. He is trying today´s trip of 7 furlongs for the first time, but on pedigree this may be what he needs.
