Fakenham only jumps racing today

with the abandonment of Sandown, we are left with only Fakenham today for N.H. fans, and it is a very poor card on offer there. Not only that, but with 6 of the 7 races having only 5 runners, betting opportunities look very limited. Venetia Williams and her stable jockey Aidan Coleman continue to make hay while the rain falls and could have a couple more winners today: Elenika can defy top weight in the handicap chase at 15.45 CET - although Full Ov Beans (M Gates/ Ally Stirling) could be a danger in receipt of 25 lbs - and Bubble Boru can follow up at 16.20, getting 11 lbs from Doctor Harper (David Pipe/ Tom Scudamore), who is clear top-rated but unproven on heavy going.
The quality at the 3 all-weather meetings today -Lingfield this afternoon and Wolverhampton and Dundalk (ireland) this evening is no better. Main interest will be in seeing if old Stand Guard (John Butler/ Willie Twiston-Davies) can equal the all a.w. record of 25 victories at 14.30 at Lingfield. He should certainly do so, but is no betting proposition at the likely odds. The crunch should come next week at Southwell, where he is due to meet his old rival La Estrella. The best betting race is the 7 furlongs handicap here at 15.30. Many of the 14 runners have alrready met several times, and Bertie Blu Boy (Lisa Williamson/ Richard Kingscote) beat 4 of these opponents when winning over this CD 13 days ago. However at the revised weights we fancy Black Truffle (Mark Usher/ Liam Keniry), fourth then, to reverse the form. Both of his career victories have come over this CD.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Cappielow Park - Slaney Star - County Zen
2. Race: Destroyer Deployed - Mondo Cane - Spike Mac
3. Race: Crookstown - Mistral Reine - Itoldyou
4. Race: Elenika - Full Ov Beans - Taffy Thomas
5. Race: Bobble Boru - Saffron Wells - Robbers Roost
6. Race: Jack Bene - Mister Chancer - Earl Grez
7. Race: Inca Dove - Ricardo`s Girl - Western Dolly
