Saturday overkill

Another typical Saturday in the U.K. with too much high class racing after very low level stuff all week, and also tomorrow. Quite apart from the Shergar Cup, there are group races at Newmarket (sponsored by the German racing industry) and Haydock. The star of the Show, potentially at least, is Teleprompter (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore), who runs in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes over 10 furlongs at 15.55 CET at Haydock.

The one-time Derby favourite is still regarded as a champion in waiting and ought to win this easily, if he is anywhere near as good as he is cracked up to be. We won´t bet on him however, as he still has to prove it and will be at very short odds. The valuable handicap over the same distance here at 15.20 is a better betting race and our fancy is Educate (Ismail Mohammed/ Johnny Murtagh).

Godolphin have a good record in the Sweet Solera Stakes for 2yo fillies at 16.35 at Newmarket and now have 2 of the 8 runners, with preference for Wedding Ring (Charlie Appleby/ Jamie Spencer). Andrew Balding is in good form and he can land a double here with Ningara at 16.00 and Highland Colori at 17.10, both ridden by David Probert. The same team has a very interesting runner in the 2yo unraced fillies race at 15.25- Casual Smile, by Sea the Stars out of Oaks winner Casual Look.
