tiny fields everywhere

With the hot weather continuing and the ground getting firmer everywhere, there are some tiny fields today, especially at Ayr, with only 25 runners in the first 6 races. The final 6 furlongs handicap at 18.15 CET is the only race with a normal-sized field and could go to Saxonette (Linda Perratt/ Peter McDonald). There is jumping at Cartmel this afternoon, with 5 and 4 runners in the main events, handicap chases at 17.30 and 18.00; our choices here are the bottom weights Papa Caruso (Sue Smith/ Jonathan England) and Sergeant Pink (Dianne Sayer/ Lucvy Alexander) respectively.

This evening we have racing at Windsor - with Ryan Moore and Richard Hughes looking likely to ride most of the winners, as is normal here, and also at Beverley; here we expect to see Tim Easterby´s improving 3yo Relight My Fire (David Allan) follow up his recent easy CD victory under a huge weight at 20.30. In Ireland there is a mixed meeting at Ballinrobe, with 4 flat races followed by 3 over hurdles. The two maiden hurdles at 20.40 and an hour later can go to Definite Row (Gordon Elliott/ Davy Condon) and King William (DM Kelly/ JL Cullen). The former makes his hurdling debut after showing good form in bumpers, while the latter ran an excellent race at Sligo only a week ago.

Betting forecast for Windsor:
1. Race: Djinni - Bewitchment - Ajig
2. Race: Regal Silk - Hassle - Ingot Of Gold
3. Race: Malih - Stiff Upper Lip - Heezararity
4. Race: Realize - Exotic Isle - Red Explorer
5. Race: Orbison - Poor Duke - Emulating
6. Race: Bantam - Nickels And Dimes - Shalwa
