5 more poor meetings today

Another low level Tuesday with some small fields, especially in the more interesting events, such as the 3yo maiden over 10 furlongs. Only 5 runners here, but two are Godolphins, and the other 3 trained by John Gosden, William Haggas and Andrew Balding - quite a high-powered group for this track. Debütant Apparently (Saeed bin Suroor/ Mickael Barzalona) is very well bred and may be able to win at the first time of asking.

Godolphin should also take the conditions race at 17.00 at Hamilton; Quick Wit (Saeed bin Suroor/ Silvestre de Sousa) is listed class and has a stone in hand of his 3 opponents on official ratings here. There are also some more well-bred runners on view at the Irish evening meeting at Gowran Park, notably in the 2yo maiden at 19.50: two colts by Galileo - Indian Maharaja (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien) and Urban Moon (Johnny Murtagh/ Niall McCullough) make their debut here and could well dominate the small field. The O´Brien´ s also have One True Love running in the opening 7 furlongs maiden at 18.50, but must be getting fed up with this filly, who is having her 6th start in 5 weeks ("!); she might finally get her head in front today, but we would not bet much on it.

Another unreliable character is Azure Fly (Charlie Longsdon/ Noel Fehily), who runs in the second division of the maiden hurdle at 19.10 at Stratford. He has thrown away a winning chance in both his hurdles races to date by swerving violently; he may be back on his best behaviour this evening on a track where he has won two bumpers. The novice chase here at 21.10 is interesting; Prospect Wells (Paul Nicholls/ Daryl Jacob) was a top hurdler and has already shown talent over fences -. but at a lower level. However there are some decent opponents here and we are not sure about the 8yo on this good-to-firm going - his half-sister Solemia won the Arc last year on heavy ground and he probably needs some cut as well.
