Black Caviar: 23rd straight win

Australian champion sprinter Black Caviar, officially rated the best horse in the world, made a triumphant comeback in the early hours of this ,morning CET when winning the Group One Lightning Stakes at Flemington for the third year in succession. It was her first race since Royal Ascopt and she now remains unbeaten after 23 starts. Not only that, she set a new course record of 55.42 seconds, although she was eased down at the finish to score by 2 1/2 lengths. It was a triumph for trainer Peter Moody, who brought the 6yo mare back to top form after 8 months off the track, and he also saddled the second and third horse to finish as well.
