Haydock today

Haydock has passed an early morning inspection and racing goes ahead. but here again the ground will be very heavy. Donald McCain and Jason Maguire look the team to follow here; they can take the main event, a listed mares novice hurdle at 14.10, with She Ranks Me, who won a similar race at Newbury last time, and has mainly the unexposed Scholastica (Tom Symonds/ Felix de Giles) to fear, and they have fancied runners in several other races. They can also take the novice chase at 13.40 with German-bred Kruzhlinin, but we think another German-bred Seventh Sky (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) can beat their runner in the opening handicap hurdle at 13.10; he is a half-brother to German Derby winner Samum and should not be worried by the ground. Cannington Brook (Colin Tizzard/ Tom O´Brien) can repeat his 2011 victory on tjhe 3 mile handicap chase at 15.15; he is not so well handicapped this time, but loves Haydock and also heavy ground, which could give him the advantage today despite his huge weight.
