Frankel in the Queen Anne

The meeting kicks off with a sensation - the unbeaten Frankel (Sir Henry Cecil/ Tom Queally), officially rated the best horse in the world, runs in the opening race, the Group One Queen Anne Stakes over a mile at 15.30 CET. Frankel paid 7-4 on his debut in August 2010, and has started at long odds-on for all his nine subsequent starts. He is quoted at 6-1 on for today´s race and could even pay less, as he looks a certainty.

He has 12 lbs in hand of second favourite Excelebration (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien), the 2011 German 2,000 Guineas winner, who has finished behind him four times already. However he still looks the likeliest runner-up. Place prospects - at a better price- can also be entertained for Worthadd (Sir Mark Prescott/ Frankie dettori) and Premio Loco (Chris Wall/ George Baer), both of whom have won in Germany as well, but the latter probably needs faster going. The same goes for Strong Suit (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) from the team that won the race last year; he is unbeaten in two starts at the meeting, which is a big plus, but a fast-run mile would in our opinion stretch his stamina.

Strange things can happen in racing and odds-on favourites often get beaten, but in our view Frankel is a certainty today and the race can be enjoyed without a bet. For a place only bet, we suggest either Worthadd or Premio Loco, as Excelebration is also at a very short price.
