Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh

Aidan O´Brien is winning everything in sight at the moment and we expect him to take both today´s Group One races in IreIand. The Irish 1,000 Guineas at 16.40 CET is the headline race, and after O´Brien has taken all the Guineas races so far run in Britain and Ireland he looks certain to take this one as well. He has 3 of the 8 runners, and his son Joseph - now firmly established as the stable´s number one jockey - partners Homcoming Queen, who won in such amazing style at Newmarket. She was 25/1 that day but there was no fluke about her performance and a repetition of that form would see her win easily today. Of her two stable-companions, After (Ryan Moore), fourth in the French Guineas, is easily preferred to Ishvana (Seamus Heffernan). For those who think that the O´Brien monopoly might be broken, La Collina (Kevin Prendergast(/ Declan McDonough), fifth at Newmarket, and Yellow Rosebud (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) are recommended, but they are probably just running for a pl ace.
The Tattersalls Gold Cup over an extended ten furlongs at 15.35 is the other big race on the card, and father and son O´Brien can take this as well with So You Think. The NZ-bred won thie last year, and while he is not rhe world champion connections were hoping for, he is a very high class performer who has run well in some of the top races and has no serious opposition here. Famous Name (Weld/ Smullen), third last year, and Bible Belt (Jssica Harrington/ Fran Berry) can take the minor places.
