typical Tuesday

Typical Tuesday racing today, i.e. all at a very low level. The best racing is from Leicester, where there ere some large fields, but very few runners in the better races. 3 run in the 2yo conditions race over 10 furlongs at 16.40 CET, which might go to Rougement (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) and 4 in the following 3yo handicap over 1 /2 miles; top-weight Franciscan (Luca Cumani/ Kieren Fallon), unlucky at Goodwood last time, is our choice here, but these are not good betting races. Nor is the opening maiden race for 2yo fillies with 18 runners, including 14 debutants, most of them well-bred and from top stables. Hannon and Hughes, whose record wth 2yo´s this season is amazing, could score here with Throne, but this is all guesswork.

At Catterick, David Nicholls could have a double with Come on Dave in the 2yo maiden at 16.00 and Annie Walker in the nursery half an hour later, both of whom ran well over this CD last time and have the trainer´s son Adrian in the saddle.

Saeed bin Suroor could also land a double today on the all-weather at Southwell; he has 2 of the 4 runners in the maiden race over 1 1/2 miles at 16.50. Sweet Lavender (William Buick) finished in front of Deraasa (Tadhg O´Shea) when they met last time and Kempton and could do so again, and Buick can also score for the stable with debutant Hurriya in the 2yo fillies maiden an hour earlier.

There are maximum fields in almost all races at the Irish N.H. meeting at Tipperary and winners look difficult to find. Flycorn (Tom Hogan/ Joe Cullen) and Mickelson (Noel Meade/ Paul Carberry) could win the two divisions of the 2 mile maiden hurdle at 14.55 and 15.25 respectively, but are far from certainties, and nor is Local Celebrity (Willie and Paddy Mullins) in the bumper at 17.55.
