rest of Doncaster

the card starts with the Group 2 Champagne Stakes for 2yo´s over 7 furlongs at 15.05 CET. Only 5 runners but still very tricky. Red Duke (John Quinn/ Kieren Fallon) looked very unlucky last time at Goodwood should be in the finish, while Irish hope Daddy Long Legs (Aidan and Joseph O´Brien) won his only start - a modest event at Gowran Park; much more is required here but juveniles from this stable often show dramatic improvement on their second start. Entifaadha (William Haggas/ Richard Hills) is unbeaten after 2 starts and boasts more solid form.
The Group Two Park Stakes, for 3yo´s and up at 17.15, is also over 7 furlongs. Here there are also only 5 runners, of which Premio Loco (Chris Wall/ George Baker) has easily the best rating. He was well beaten last week at Goodwood but the ground was against him then; today´s going looks perfect and we hope he wins. Balthazar´s Gift (Clive Cox/ Adam Kirby) won this last year with Premio Loco runner-up and is the obvious danger, while 2009 winner Duff appears to have lost form.
The Portland Handicap at 5.35 is always one of the toughest sprint handicaps of the season and is run over the unusual distance of 5 1/2 furlongs. Almost anything can win here but our 3 against the field are Zero Money (Roger Charlton/ Baker), Swiss Dream (David Elsworth/ Olivier Peslier) and York Glory (Kevin Ryan/ Phillip Makin). The race over the straight mile at 16.45 is also difficult, but we excect one of the top-weights to win: Sarrsar (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori), Eton Forever (Roger Varian/ Neil Callan) or Casual Glimpse (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes)
