handicaps in the U.K.

today´s cards at Goodwood and Ffos Las are mainly handicaps - in fact all 7 races at Goodwood come into this category, which in our view is much too much of a good thing. They all look very tricky and to be honest the much class events at the Curragh and Longchamp offer much better betting opportunities. However one trainer/ jockey combination, whose horses we will be watching closely at Goodwood, is Rod and James Millman. Mobaasher, who goes for the 2 miles event at 14.55, has not run on the flat for 5 years (!) but is a smart hurdler and could well be thrown in here. Even more attractively weighted in our view is Numide at 17.40, who has also been running over hurdles. When one considers that he was once 5th in the French Derby, his rating of 75 appears a gift. Maccabees at 15.30 and Galatian at 17.10 are two more runners for Millmans with chances.
Zafarana (Ed Dunlop/ Paul Hanagan) is the only 3yo in the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 17.30; an easy winner on the all-weather last time she seems well handicapped against these mainly exposed opponents, although Classic Vintage (Amanda Perrett/ Ted Durcan), no longer very consistent, would be a big danger on a good day.
