3 meetings today

A typical Tuesday programme with poor racing from Beverley and Folkestone as well as jumps racing at Newton Abbot. At Beverley, Peter Midgley can land a double with Internationaldebut (Freddie Tylicki), going for a hat-trick in the 6 furlongs conditions race at 17.00 CET, and Lady Sledmere (Paul Hanagan) moving into handicap company for the first time after an easy maiden win half an hour later.

German group winner Aspectus (Jamie Osborne/Sophie Doyle) has been very frustrating since moving to the U.K. and has not won in 15 starts, but is now on a very low rating and must have some sort of chance in the 7 1/2 furlongs handicap at 16.00.

Frankie Dettori is at Folkestone and can win the opening 2yo handicap on George Baker´s Billyrayvalentine as well as the final maiden at 17.50 on Godolphin´s Kahraba, placed on both starts so far. An interesting runner here is Sure Fire (Barney Curley/ Tom Queally) in the 1 mile 7 furlongs handicap at 16.50. This is a very poor race and Sure Fire, who has an excellent German pedigree but has been seen since finishing last on the all-weather in April, is surely capable of winning off this rating.

Another German-bred we like today is Lancteto in the 2 mile novice chase at 15.40 at Newton Abbot. Nearby (Philip Hobbs/ Tom O´Brien) is the obvious danger here, but has been beaten twice at odds-on and does not seem to be a good enough jumper. Hobbs can however take the 3 1/4 mile handicap chase at 16.40, where he has 2 runners, top-weight Estates Recovery (Mr. JA Best), who has won his last 3 races, including twice this CD, and Templer (Matt Griffiths). When they met before, the former won easily but the latter can take his revenge at these weights.
