5 bad meetings today

A typical Tuesday with very low level racing at all 5 meetings. Mark Johnston and Silvestre de Sousa are both in great form and look the team to follow at Hamilton. They can win the 3yo mile handicap at 16.15 with top-weight Carrowbeg, wearing first time blinkers, and can be back in the winner´s enclosure half an hour later with Circle of Angels. de Sousa has another winning chance on Anne Duffield´ s Tro Nesa in the claimer at 15.45.

Sir Mark Prescott´s Fire Fighter (Steve Donohoe) in the 3yo handicap over 1 17/2 miles at 17.15 is our best bet here. He was runner-up here last time as an odds-on favourite and can recover those losses now. Best thing at Brighton is Polperro (John Gosden/ William Buick) who runs in the 10 furlongs maiden at 16.30. He has improved from start to start and seems to have little to beat here. His second place (of 14) at Sandown last time is by far the best form in the race.

This evening there is racing on the all-weather at Southwell, on turf in Ireland at Sligo and over jumps at Stratford, but all three cards are instantly forgettable. At Stratford, Life of a Luso (Paul Henderson/ Tom O´Brien) would have completed a hat-trick but for falling at the last here, and can make up for that mishap at 20.40, while Stage Acclaim (Dr. Richard Newland/ Tony McCoy), who has been runner-up 3 times in succession, can finally get his head in front in the novice chase an hour later.
