Rest of today´s racing

There is also a good jumps card at Cheltenham today, where all the top jockeys are in attendance. Ruby Walsh can win the main feature, a valuable handicap chase over 2 miles 5 furlongs at 16.55, with Paul Nicholl´s CD specialist Poquelin. This is not really a handicap, as Poquelin has to concede 20 lbs to the other 4 runners but is still pounds well in. Walsh can also go close on King´s Legacy in the handicap hurdle at 16.20, but here we prefer German-bred Ostland. The Lando gelding, second in the German Derby 3 years ago, has not yet won in England but ran a sound race last time at Kempton. Tony McCoy can counter with Jonjo O´Neill´s Galaxy Rock at 15.,45 and Warren Greatrex´ Paint the Clouds in the last race at 17.30.

Obviously the card at Catterick this afternoon cannot be compared to that at Newmarket, but Gottany O´s (Mick Channon/ Sam Hitchcott) scored with the greatest of ease at Wolverhampton a month ago and should be able to follow up in the conditions race for 3yo´s over 1 1/2 miles at 16.45; his trainer has won this race 4 times in the last 5 years. There is also racing this evening at Kempton (all-weather) and Southwell (N.H.)
