Start of Auteuil spring season

The big trotting winter season at Vincennes is now over and the action in France now switches to jumps racing at Auteuil, which will stage the main events in the Paris region on the next 4 Sundays. Today´s opening fixture features two group races, the Prix Juigne, over hurdles at 14.30 CET, and over fences the Prix Robert de Clermont-Tonner at 15.40. In the former event the top French hurdler Questarabad (Marc Rolland/ Regis Schmidlin) reappears. He has to concede 7 kilos to German-bred Wutzeline (Yannick Fertillet/ Hubert Terrien) which will not be easy, although the German mare is normally a Cagnes specialist. The latter event should go to Kauto Stone (Bertrand de Balanda/ Christophe Pieux), a half-brother to Kauto Star and the top French 4yo last year, who now against older horses for the first time.
