N.H. racing at Newbury and Sedgefield

Jumps racing this afternoon at Newbury and Sedgefield, and the better sport comes from Newbury, although by the standards of this track the card is not brilliant. The opening maiden hurdle at 15.10 CET has runners from some of the top trainers - Henderson, King, Hobbs etc- but none of them look like stable stars and we think German-bred Wiesentraum (Lucy Wadham/ Dominic Elsworth) should have an each-way chance. The Next Desert gelding ran on well when runner-up last time at Huntingdon. Wadham has another decent chance with General Tíng (Leighton Aspell) in the handicap hurdle at 18.35. Otherwise it should pay to follow Alan King, whose stable is in great form. Ravethebrave at 15.40 and Patsy Finnegan at 16.50, both with stable jockey Robert Thornton in the saddle, as well as Raduis Bleu (Ciaran McKee) at 17.25 can all score for the yard. Hong Kong Harry also has a chance at 16.15, but here we prefer CD specialist Master Eddy (Sam Lycett/ David England), all of whose 3 career wins have come here, including this race twice.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Oasis Knight - Easter Meteor - Bless The Wings
2. Race: Flemish Invader - Max Bygraves - Ravethebrave
3. Race: Hong Kong Harry - Full Of Joy - Kasban
4. Race: Patsy Finnegan - Winterwood - Bai Zhu
5. Race: Master Fiddle - Bobble Hat Bob - Robin De Creuse
6. Race: Turko - Battlecry - Gallant Approach
7. Race: Cockney Trucker - Sunley Peace - The Cayterers

Two German-breds with each-way chances at Sedgefield are Moon Melody (Mike Sowersby/ Tony Kelly) at 15.50 and Bocciani (Dianne Sayer/ JP O`Farrell) at 16.25. The former ran badly last time but was not suited by the heavy going; on this better ground he should be thereabouts, while the latter carries a12 lbs penalty for winning his last 2 races but can still get involved. Othrwise we expect good claimer Paul Gallagher can land a double with Scriptwriter in the opening novice hurdle at 15.20 and course specialist Waterloo Corner in the handicap hurdle at 18.10.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Shadows Lengthen - Scriptwriter - Bridlingtonbygones
2. Race: Miss Tarantella - Zero Six Zoo - Echoes Of Dawn
3. Race: Priceless Art - Bocciani - Wadnaan
4. Race: Sitting Tennant - Lightening Rod - Catch Bob
5. Race: Jeringa - Oniz Tiptoes - Nelliedonethat
6. Race: Samizdat - Waterloo Corner - Exotic Man
