N.H. racing at Ludlow and Cork (Ireland)

The jumps racing today is also very low-key, although there are huge fields at Cork, where there is an all-hurdles card (including a Fegentri race). High Cian (Tony Martin/ Ruby Walsh) was a beaten favourite on both his last visits to this track, perhaps he can make it third time lucky at 17.25 CET today. Maturus Ardor (M. Winters/ JP Holly), a German-bred by Silvano, has shown glimpses of ability and could run well in the handicap half an hour later, and the same goes for High Desert (Arthur Noore/ Andrew McNamara), by Next Desert, at 18.25.

At Ludlow, Nigel Twiston-Davis could be the trainer to follow. He saddles two runners in the handicap hurdle at 16.35, Mad Moose, with his younger son Willie in the saddle and a very easy winner last time, end Briefcase, the mount of stable jockey Paddy Brennan; both could run well, although Havingotascoobydoo (Martin Keighley/ Warren Marston) is an obvious threat. In the following handicap chase, Twiston-Davis puts up his elder son Sam on top-weight Leamington Lad; he was tailed off last time and had been pulled up on his 3 previous starts, but if one goes back further, he has plenty of form in the book to give him a chance in this weak company. Course specialist The Snail (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney), who won this race last year, is a danger, as well as Azulada Bay (Mark Rimell/ Jason Maguire), an easy winner here over a longer trip when last seen in November.
