Meydan Masters at Dubai Racing Carnival

The Dubai Racing Carnival continues with a double meeting this week, today and tomorrow, featuring the Meydan Masters, an international jockeys challenge comprising three handicaps (two today, one tomorrow) for which the mounts are drawn by ballot. 12 of the world´s leading jockeys will take part, most of whom of course (Dettori, Moore, Peslier and co, and including William Buick, back from Injury) are here already.

Today´s races are at 17.40 CET over a mile and at 18.55 over 11 furlongs, both on tapeta. Obviously they are very open events, our tentative suggestions are Quick Wit (Saeed bin Suroor/ Buick) and Halicarnassus (Mick Channon/ Gerald Mosse) respectively. Main feature today is the Group Two Al Fahidi Fort over a mile on turf at 19.35. Raihana (Mike de Kock/ Chtistophe Soumillon) was a very easy winner here last week and may be able to successfully step up in class; Al Malki/ Ryan Moore) - a Baden-Baden winner in 2009- and Bushman (David Slimcock/ Buick) look dangerous.
