German runners at Cagnes-sur-mer today

So far the German runners at Cagnes have not been wildly successful, but this could change today with Marlow (Mario Hofer/ Ioritz Mendizibal) runs off bottom weight in the tierce handicap over 2000 metres at 13.50 CET. He has been in good form and although this is as always a tough race, he must have a solid each-way chance. Otherwise there are several runners owned or trained by Werner Baltromei engaged, and we hope that The Black Lady at 14.50, and Song of Tiger at 16.55, both ridden by Dominique Boeuf, acquit themselves well. The British challenger Officer in Command (Stan Moore/ F-X Bertras) could go well in the claiming race at 16.25, but the one to beat here is surely Castries (Alain de Royer-Dupre/ Thierry Thulliez), who is dropping in grade and represents a top stable.

The two British all-weather meetings at Lingfield this afternoon and Kempton this evening are very low-level. Hindu Kush (Robert Mills/Eddie Ahern) is coming off a 6 months break but could win the 1 1/2 mile handicap at Kempton at 19.50; he was in younger days regarded as a group horse by previous trainer Aidan O´Brien. Half an hour later Advertisement (Jeremy Noseda/ George Baker) can complete a hat-trick in the 7 furlongs handicap.
