Taunton, Lingfield and Wolverhampton

With Ludlow and Gowran Park both abandoned/ postponed, Taunton now has the only jumps racing today in Britain and Ireland, and there are some quite useful sorts entered. This is particularly true of the novice hurdle at 14.30 CET, in which the two penalised 6yo´s Credit Swap (Venetia Williams/ Aidan Coleman) and Bermuda Boy (Paul Nicholls/ Ian Popham) both set a high standard after easy wins last time out.

We prefer the former, winner of the Cambridgeshire on the flat and highly rated by his shrewd trainer. Nicholls should in any case win the novice hurdle at 15.30 with Al Ferof (Nick Scholfield) - runner-up in last year´s Champion Bumper- and also has decent prospects in the main feature, a handicap hurdle at 16.30, in which he saddles two of the 7 runners, Sanctuaire (Daryl Jacob) and Tito Bustillo (Scholfield. However they have the two highest weights, and we give slight preference to the improving Dona (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), up in grade after winning over this CD last time. Daryl Jacob can take the handicap chase at 17.00 on Nick Williams` Golden Duck; although 11 years old, he is quite lightly raced and scored easily on his first start for this trainer.
