Kauto Star goes for fifth King George at Kempton

Kauto Star (Paul Nicholls/ Tony McCoy) is rated the best 3 mile chaser in Britain nd Irelnd (and that means the world!)since the great Arkle and can enter the history books today by winning the King George VI Chase at Kempton at 16.00 CET for the fifth successive season- a feat never before achieved. The race s oroginlly die to be ru on Boxinf Day, but thtemeeting that dy hs to b cancelld s th trck ws snowd under. After a rainy week, the course today will be on the soft side, but that should suit Kauto Star, while several of his most dangerous opponents could have trouble in staying this distance.
On official ratings Kauto Star has 22lbs or more in hand and we cannot see him being beaten. He is normally ridden by Ruby Walsh who partnered him to his 4 previous wins here, but as he is injured, as is his deputy Noel Fehily, Tony McCoy gets the ride. Some people have suggested that his riding style is not suited to Kauto Star, but that is surely rubbish.
