All-weather racing today

There is flat racing on the all-weather this afternoon at Lingfield and this evening at Kempton, but the cards are very modest. The main interest is in the 2yo maidens (two divisions at each meeting). At Lingfield, those that have run have not shown much, so it should pay to follow the well-bred debutants, in particular Atraaf at 14.30 CET and Hawaafez at 15.05. They are both trained by Marcus Tregoning for Hamdan al Maktoum, and it could be significant that stable jockey Richard Hills has flown back from Dubai to ride. The dangers are probably the two runners in Khaled Abdullah´s colours, Monopolize (Henry Cecil/ Tom Queally) and Implication (John Gosden/ Robert Havlin) respectively.

Gosden and Havlin could well take both the 2yo maidens at Kempton, which look much easier, with Follow my Dream at 18.35 and Prince of Burma half an hour later. The handicaps at these meetings are probably best left alone, but we have a sneaking fancy for Duster (Hughie Morrison/ Steve Drowne) in the mile race at 15.40 and Vhujon (David Evans/ Cathy Gannon) in the 5 furlongs sprint at 18.05.
