today´s U.K. and Irish racing

Plenty of runners at today´s 5 meetings, but very few of them with pretensions to class. At Newbury the 2yo handicap at 16.20 CET is the most interesting event, and the 3 top-weights should dominate -Vanguard Dream (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes), Unex El Greco (John Gosden/ William Buick) - both unbeaten so far and both winners at Leicester last time- and Thomas Tompion (Gary and Ryan Moore). The Gosden runner made an excellent impression when winning on his debut and is narrowly preferred. The only other flat racing is on the all-weather this evening at Wolverhampton. The best race here is the 3yo handicap over 1 1/2 miles at 20.40, which has attrcte runners from severl of th top saböles - Stoute, Cecil, Jphnston, Jrvis etc, for very poor prize-money. It is a very open affair with Cecil´s consistent Heart of Hearts (Ian Mongan) our narrow selection.

Philip Hobbs looks the trainer to follow over jumps on the U.K. today. He can land a double at Exeter with Dunraven Storm in the opening novice hurdle at 15.25, an easy bnmper winner here when last seen in April, and Triggerman in the beginners chase at 17.10, both with stable jockey Richard Johnson in the saddle and could also be on the mark at Worcester, where Qroktou (Tom O´Brien) is a confident choice to win the 3 mile novice hurdle at 15.00.

Colin Bowe is another trainer in good form, and we expect him also to land a double at the Irish N.H. meeting at Tramore, with Model County Lass in the maiden hurdle at 16.20 and Let´s Go Sunshine in the beginners chase at 17.25. Amateur jockey Mr. B.O´Neill rides them both.
