German raid on Strasbourg and Milan

Huge numbers of German-trained runners are in action at Strasbourg and Milan today - with no fewer than 37 runners at the former track and another 12 in Italy. Strasbourg probably offers the better betting opportunities. There are 7 Germans in the main event, a listed race over 2100 metres at 15.25 - Irini (Hans-Jürgen Gröschel/ Theo Bachelot), Derwisch (Andreas Wöhler/ Maxime Guyon), Dwilano (Norbert Sauer/ Sylvain Ruis), Tingly (Werner Hfter/Aurelien Lemaitre), Oriental Lion (Miroslav Rulec/ Daniele Porcu), Schiller Aanon (Waldemar Hickst/ Dominique Boeuf) and Durban Thunder (Torsten Mundry/ Norman Richter) - but they will all find it hard to catch the admirable 9yo Young Tiger, who has won 14 of his 26 career starts and been in the money on all the others and is trying to win the valuable Defi du Galop series for the second time. However it will be a big surprise if there are not at least 3 German winners here. Our main fancies are Le Danseur (Hefter/ Guyon) at 14.50, Stat ini (Hans-Walter Hiller/ Ruis) at 16.35, Duellant (Peter Schiergen/ Guyon) at 17.05, Accaccio (Werner Baltromei/ Boeuf) at 17.35 and Tahiti Pearl (Connie Brandstätter/ Laurent Bouldoires) over hurdles at 14.20.
