today´s N.H. racing

there are 3 jumps meetings today, with the best sport on offer at Newton Abbot, where the main feature is a valuable handicap chase over 2 miles 5 furlongs at 16.15 CET. Ruby Walsh has his first ride in England here since his Aintree fall on Grand National day; he partners Classic Swain for champion trainer Paul Nicholls. Classic Swain, Ruby´s only mount of the day, used to have a reputation for being a bit dodgy, but there was nothing wrong with his last two victories - both over 2 miles at this track - and he also stays todays distance and although this is a very open race, we expect him to win.
Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has an excellent record at Perth and with his yard still in top form - and winning the Ebor on Wednesday- he and jockey Paul Carberry should be on the scorecard today. They have 4 runners, and it is by no means impossible that they could all win.
There is also N.H. racing at Market Rasen this evening, where the best race is the 2 1/2 miles handicap chase at 19.50. Rockiteer (Henry Daly/ Andrew Tinkler) was a recent CD winner, but third-placed Nudge and Nurdle (Nigel Twiston-Davies/ Tom Molloy) can reverse the placings on 5 lbs better terms.
