Listed races at Salisbury and Gowran Park

Two listed races, both for fillies and mares and thus certain of a good turnout of runners looking for black type, head today´s programme. At Salisbury at 17.05 CET they go over 10 furlongs, and 7 3yo fillies face 4 older runners. This is quite an open race and Bikini Babe (Mark Johnston/ Luke Morris), who ran well at Deauville last time is our selection, even though she is held by Gallic Star (Mick Channon/ Chris Catlin) on Royal Ascot form.

Best of the older brigade should be Alsace Lorraine (James Fanshawe/ Kieren Fallon), beaten favourite in a different Ascot race, but whose earlier form reads well. Chantilly Tiffany (John Gosden/ William Buick) was a group race winner in Baden-Baden in 2008, but seems to have lost form and has not run since the spring.

The other listed race takes place in Ireland at Gowran Park´s evening meeting over 9 1/2 furlongs at 20.20. There are 15 runners here, but the overall quality is not high, and the Aga Khan´s Shareen (John Oxx/ Fran Berry), unbeaten in 3 starts this season, although moving uo in grade, could be good enough. Famous (Johnny Murtagh), one of 3 Aidan O´Brien entries, could be next best, although on latest Cork running she is just about held by Maybe Grace (Jessica Harrington/ Declan McDonough).
