Galway Festival: day six

the Galway Festival at Ballybrit ends tomorrow but today there are once again some very hot races, with a 7 furlongs handicap at 17.00 CET the most valuable event. Several of these have already run at the meeting, including Ask Jack (PG Murphy/ Chris Hayes) an easy winner over a mile on Tuesday, while Fit the Cove (Harry Rogers/ Willie Supple) won this last year but is now a 10yo and cannot be recommended on recent form. Dermot Weld, almost certain to be leading trainer at the meeting for the 26th time, saddles Broad Meaning (Pat Smullen) and this CD winner, with first time blinkers, is our selection. Weld also has good chances with Gentleman Jeff (Paul Townend) in the maiden hurdle at 15.35 and McMonagle (Smullen) in the 2yo handicap at 16.30, but his Honey of a Kitten (Smullen) will have to step on on his debut form if he is to defeat Enchanted Forest (Aidan O´Brien/ Johnny Murtagh) and Hasty Katie (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) in the 2yo maiden at 17.30. Two ex-German hors es Isabellareine (Mervin Torrens/ DM Grant) and Schelm (Ronnie O´Leary/ Emmett McNamara) could both go well in the 2 mile handicap at 18.00, while Manhattan Boy (Edward O´Grady/ Andrew McNamara) also has a decent each-way chance in the handicap hurdle at 15.55.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Baracas - Gentleman Jeff - Dumitas
2. Race: King Of Redfield - Swiftmarc - Manhattan Boy
3. Race: Mcmonagle - Suntan - Act Of Love
4. Race: Ask Jack - Broad Meaning - Miss Eze
5. Race: Enchanted Forest - Hasty Katie - In Good Voice
6. Race: Total Excitement - Echua - Mr Bones
7. Race: Anderson Mcauley - Sparkling Tara - Masdar
