This evening at Sandown, Salisbury and Tipperary (Ireland)

The most interesting race this evening at Sandown is the 1 3/4 mile handicap for 3yo´s at 19.20 CET. Any number of form horses, but they are all running over a new distance, so it is by no means certain how the form will work out. Possibly the three to concentrate on are Rock a Doodle Do (William Jarvis/ Frankie Dettori), Sir Pitt (John Gosden/ Ryan Moore) and Deauville Post (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes).

Frankie teams up again with Jarvis on Oriental Slot in a mile handicap for 3yo´s half an hour later, but Sir Michael Stoute´ s Treble Jig (Moore) could be the one to beat here. He has not been seen since winning at Newmarket last August, but is quite possibly much better than a handicapper. Another lightly-raced type Marie de Guise could be another Stoute/ Moore winner in the fillies handicap at 21.35.

Best race at Salisbury is the 6 furlongs handicap at 20.05. Pat Cosgrave´s mount Sarah´s Art is our fancy here; he is trained by Stef Higgins, better known under her previous married name of Liddiard. Andrew Balding´s Rapid Water, out of the great Lochsong, is an obvious danger, but the trainer will have to find a new jockey as Martin Dwyer broke his ankle yesterday.

At Tipperary there are likely to be hot favourites in the maiden races, all of whom could oblige. Johnny Murtagh could take the 2yo maiden at 18.40 on Aidan O´Brien´s Eskimo, and the other 2yo maiden at 19.40 on David Wachman´s Meow, while the John Oxx/ Fran Berry team can counter with Bass Rock at 19.19 and Alaia at 21.50.
