Dubai Racing Carnival

The Meydan meting contues today with more competitiv racing, with the Group Two Al Fahidi Fort over a mile on turf at 19.00 CET as the highlight. Saeed bin Suroor has the Godolphin team in top form and they won 4 races here yesterday. They have 3 runners in this event, with Jusatenuffhumour the choice of Frankie Dettori. The main dangers are Imbongi (Mike de Kock/ Christophe Soumillon) and Premio Loco (Chris Wall/ George Baker), whom we still remember from his excellent perfomances in Germany last year.

Also familiar to local racegoers are 3 horses trained in Germany who have already run at the Carnval. Walzertraum (Manfred Hofer/ Soumillon) did best of them and finished third here a fortnight ago. He could be in the money again when he contests the 10 furlongs handicap at 17.50. Once again Godolphin provide the main threats in the shape of Firebet (Dettori) and Trois Rois (Ahmed Ajtebi). Northern Glory (Wolfgang Figge/ Karoly Kerekes) also ran respectably here last time and could be placed in the 11 furlongs handicap at 16.30. King of Rome (de Kock/ Kevin Shea), Espiritu (bin Suroor/ Dettori) and Drunken Sailor (Luca Cumani/ Kieren Fallon) are the most dangerous of the opposition here. Finally Atila Sher Danon (Waldemar Hickst/ Adrie de Vries) was very disappointing last time and needs to improve to figure in the 9 furlongs handocap at 19.35. Roman Republic is our choice here to round off another successful day for the Godolphin operation.
