Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown (weather permitting)

Should racing go ahead at Sandown, the best race of the day will be the Grade One Tolworth Hurdle at 16.10 CET. Only 5 runners and no established stars, but several potential stars of the future and top German owner Baron Ullmann should be interested, as he is the breeder of Ghizao (Paul Nicholls/ Ruby Walsh), while Salden Licht (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) raced in his colours. Both look very promising and the one they have to beat is clearly the still unbeaten Oscar Whisky (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty). The latter´s team is also responsible for Trabolgan in the handicap chase at 15.05. The 2005 Hennessy winner has only raced 3 times since, but is on a very lenient handicap mark if he can recover his old form (by no means certain after the many injuries he has suffered).
The Irish N.H. meeting at Cork goes ahead after an inspection, and the best race here is the hurdle race over 2 1/4 miles at 14.55. Again a small field, but some useful performers, notably Mr. Warbucks (Adrian Maguire) and Kauto Relko (Willie Burke/ Paul Townend), a half-brother to the great "Star". German-bred Belord (Edward O´Grady/ Andrew McNamara) fell last week, but if he stays on his feet, must have a good chance of winning the maiden hurdle here at 16.25.
