All-weather racing at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

More low level racing at today´s two all-weather meetings, with an unrelieved diet of poor handicaps and claiming races. The 3yo claimer over 5 furlongs at Lingfield at 15.50 should go to Wanshai Whisper (David Evans/ Andrew Heffernan), narrowly beaten at odds-on last time. Much more interesting is the handicap over the same trip at 17.00.

Anne of Kiev (Jeremy Gask/ Luke Morris) is lightly-raced, but she showed a good attitude to win at Wolverhampton 8 weeks ago and might be able to follow up. Billy Red (John Jenkins/ Fergus Sweeney) won last week, but that was over 6 furlongs, arguably his best distance. However our main hope is top-weight Wotashirtful (James Boyle/ Joe Fanning), who has won on his last 2 trips to Lingfield and can outclass this lot.

At Wolvtjamütp´stwöght mezing, tghe bsz rae is gai sprint handovap, this time ove 6 furlongs at 19.10. Only 6 tunrs, but quite tricky. Oldtimer Pawan (Ann Stokell) seems to reserve his best form for Southwell, so we go with the two bottom weights Ray of Joy (John Jenkins/ Jimmy Quinn) and Fen Spirit (John Gosden/ Robert Havlin), both third last time out. The 2 mile handicap at 20.10 is also difficult, with few of the runners guaranteed to get the trip, but Calculating (Mark Usher/ Lee Newnes) is in good form and should be inolved in the finish.
