All weather action today

After the disasters of the last few days, there are two meetings this afternoon, although Wolverhampton´s "twilight meeting" has been abandoned. Easily the best race of the day is the class 2 handicap at 15.30 CET at Lingfield, which has a pretty strong field for the time of year. Luca Cumani´ s German-bred Waldvogel (Dane O´Neill) has top-weight here, but strictly speaking he is held on last years Dubai form by Young Mick (George Margarson/ Tom Queally), not disgraced in a listed race last time.

Mildoura (Lucy and Ian Mongan) has won her last two races in good style, including this CD. but now meets much better opposition. Our tentative suggestion is Luberon (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning), who missed most of 2009, but has a clear chance if back to his best form of 2008.

Also at Lingfield, trainer James Boyle can take the last 2 races with Alfie Tupper (Dane O´Neill), just touched off here last week, at 16.30, and Wunder Strike (Nathan Alison) ia the apprentice handicap half an hour later; the latter has won his last 4 races, 3 of them this CD, and is still on a reasonable mark.

At Southwell, Hint of Honey (Tony Newsombe/ David Kenny) who showed her best ever form when scoring here last week at 40-1, can follow up at much reduced odds at 15.45, while Obe Gold (Paul Howling/ Robert Winston), who missed the break here days ago, stands out in the 6 furlongs seller at 16.15.
