German runners at Deauville

It must be hoped that the bad weather that has struck southern England will not cross the channel to Deauville, as there is a mammoth card today with 13 races (4 in the morning and 9 in the main afternoon session), most of them with maximum fields, and numerous German- trained runners. The best chances of a German victory would appear to lie in the 1500 metres conditions race for "jeunes jockeys" at 14.25, in which Fareion (Sascha Smrczek/ Eric Wehrel), Acotango (Erika Mäder/ Yannick Letondeur) and Marny (Hans Blume/ Romain Perruchot) are engaged, and in the claiming race for female jockeys over the same trip half an hour later, with Song of Tiger (Werner Baltromei/ Steffi Hofer), Owentuo (Stefan Wegner/ Delphine Santiago) and De La Vista (Waldemar Hickst/ Melanie Flahaut).
