Fontwell (N.H.), Sedgefield (N.H.) and Southwell (a.w.)

Fontwell´s card today can start with two wins by odds-on favourites - Anak (Jim Best/ Tony McCoy) in the 3yo hurdle at 13.40 CET and Ginolad (Venetia Williams/ Aidan Coleman) in the beginners chase at 14.10. The latter is making his British debut, but was a smart performer down under and last ran in a super-valuable race in Japan. Martin Keighley has his string on good form, and his recent winners Poncha Train at 15.10 and Love of Tara half an hour later, both partnered by Warren Marston, should make their presence felt again, though the latter must give weight to some useful performers, notably Ballybach (Nick Gifford/ Tony McCoy), a close 4th at Ascot last time.
At Sedgefield, Robert Thornton can land a double on John Quinn´ s Ballyriggan in the novice hurdle at 14.20 and Evan Williams´ Hector´s House in the 3yo hurdle half an hour later, both runners-up last time and now due for a win. Deuteronomy (John Wade/ Brian Hughes) is also due for a win in the handicap chase at 15.50, having repeatedly been placed, but here we prefer top-weight Categorical (Lucinda Russell/ Peter Buchanan). Mick Quinlan can take the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at 13.50 with Petroglyph (David Bass) and can also be on the scorecard at Southwell, where he saddles Athwaab and Marsam in the first two races, both ridden by Neil Callan. Main event here is the 5 furlongs handicap at 14.00. Canadian Danehill (Robert Cowell/ Callan) and Pawan (Ann Stokell) are familiar faces here, but we go for the improving 3yo Lesleys Choice (Roger Curtis/ Frankie McDonald), who can complete a hat-trick. another improving type on a roll is Shadows Lengthen (Mick Easterby/ J ames Sullivan), who can complete a quick fourtimer under top-weight in the 11 furlongs handicap at 14.30.
