N.H. racing at Carlisle and Leicester

Carlisle has survived an early morning inspection and racing goes ahead, but the going will be very heavy, while surprisingly it is given as good to firm at Leicester. Nicky Henderson can continue his winning run at the latter track with Peveril (Andrew Tinkler), last seen winning bumper in April, who can get off the mark over hurdles at 13.45 CET. He also has a chance in the handicap chase at 15.20 with You and I (Felix de Giles), but our preference here is for top-weight Free World (Warren Greatrex/ Noel Fehily), who is dropping in grade. Best race here is the 2 mile handicap hurdle at 15.55 in which top-weight Good Old Thyme (Dr. Richard Newland/ Daryl Jacob) and Catch Bob (Ferdy Murphy/ Graham Lee) are our main fancies. Donald McCain and Howard Johnson, with their respective stable jockeys Jason Maguire and Denis O´Regan, look the teams to follow at Carlisle. In the first 3 races they can take the first two places with Washington Irving (Johnson) and German-bred Alpha Wa y (McCain) at 13.55, Alvarado (Johnson) and Whiteabbey (McCain) at 14.25, and Diamond Frontier (Johnson) and Comhla Ri Coig (McCain) at 15.00. Washington Irving is certainly an interesting recruit to N.H. racing, as this former Aidan O´ Brien horse last ran in the Ascot Gold Cup!

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Washington Irving - Rosbay - Midnite Blews
2. Race: Alvarado - Whiteabbey - Against The Wind
3. Race: Comhla Ri Coig - Diamond Frontier - Classic Cut
4. Race: Prince De Beauchene - Newman Des Plages - Reel Charmer
5. Race: Nevsky Bridge - Kempski - Star Tenor
6. Race: Of Course - Samizdat - Briery Star
