All-weather racing this evening

There is an early-evening fixture at Kempton today and an evening meeting in Ireland at Dundalk. Dundalk, were they also raced yesterday, has it final meeeting of 2009 tomorrow, so the battle for the Irish jockeys championship is almost over. Johnny Murtagh looks home and dried, as he leads his rival Pat Smullen by 93 to 87 winners, but Smullen has arguably the better rides this evening and certainly does so tomorrow, as Murtagh is suspended then. However his chances of riding more than 6 winners in 2 days is obviously slim, although Smullen does have possibilities toiday on Curl Cat at 18.15 CET, Scopey at 19.15, and Keep it Cool at 19.45, while Murtagh´s best chance appears to be Street Legal at 22.15. The most interesting event at Kempton looks to be the 2yo handicap at 18.30. Living it Large (Roger Fisher/ Tony Hamilton) is clearly useful and has won 4 races this season, including his last 3, but has a huge weight. Six Wives (Jeremy Glover/ Chris Catlin) is still a maiden , but now meets him on 7 lbs better terms, while Imjin River (Mark Tompkins/ Ashley Morgan), a CD winner last time, is even better off. Best bet of the evening should be Mark Johnston´s only runner Mannlichen (Greg Fairley) in the 1 1/2 miles handicap at 20.00, a very easy winner here last time.
