Newmarket´s final meeting of 2009 starts today with a listed race for 2yo fillies over 6 furlongs at 14.50 the main feature. Clear form choice is Puff (Ralph Beckett/ Jim Crowley), 4th in the Cheveley Park here, but Amitola (David Barron/ Phillip Makin), who landed a gamble when winning on her debut at Ayr and now steps up in grade, and Conniption (Brian Meehan / Frankie Dettori) could make life difficult. Frankie should start the day well when he rides two 2yo´s for Godolphin in the first two races, Asraab at 13.40 and Quick Wit at 14.15. The way the stable´s runners are performing (5 winners yesterday!) they can almost be backed blind at the moment. The 6 furlongs race at 16.35 is an interesting event, as it is for 2- and 3yo´s only. 2yo´s have a good record and today supply 6 of the 9 runners, best of which may be Pastoral Player (Hughie Morrison/ Steve Drowne) and Hadeeth (Marcus Tregoning/ Richard Hills), but we prefer a 3yo this time, Jeremy Noseda´s Himalya (Ryan Moore ), who has the potential to be a smart performer.
